Hot Summer Sounds in the Studio!
Welcome to the first on-line edition of Theta Sounds. We really should have started this many years ago but since our head honcho engineer/producer, Randy Tobin, is also the web design guy, he found it increasingly difficult to be recording cool clients and writing this newsletter at the same time. Of course, for those of you who are on our postal mailing list for the print version, you know that what once began as a monthly publication, in time, barely made it to press once a year!
Anyway, recent developments in time management (such as working while asleep) have made it possible for us to venture forth into the realm of on-line content and we hope that this timely, albeit abbreviated edition, will both enlighten and inspire you to begin and/or continue your creative pursuits.
Studio Notes...
Susan Kohler just finished her debut CD entitled, Cocktail Napkins, featuring a collection of some of her favorite standards. Pianist/arranger Nick Fryman, along with bassist Randy Landas and Rod Harbour on drums, formed the instrumental foundation for Susan's scintillating vocal renditions. Cocktail Napkins will be available in August on CDBaby.com and at Susan's concert performances.

Sherry Hackney Cade's daughter Olivia had her second birthday! That means a new album featuring original compositions by various composers, all friends and fans of Sherry, Olivia and proud papa Alan. 2 is the result of this year's collection — childrens songs — and is admirably performed by Tom Fair (with a little help from Olivia and Sherry). The CD package was designed by our art department.

Our composer-in-residence Randall Michael Tobin completed his second soundtrack for Michele Purpora-Tardi's equestrian Quadrille team (four horses and riders executing choreographed formations and maneuvers). The piece is entitled Safarican and includes lyrics and chants in Swahili. Caribbean Carnivál, Randy's first piece for Michele's Robele Farms Quadrille team, The Riding Company, was part of the winning combination that helped them capture First Place in the National Competition last year!
