Scenes from previous productions

A long time ago, an evil magician created a magic mirror that reduced the goodness and magnified the bad of anyone who saw their reflection in it.

Suddenly, the mirror shattered into millions of pieces which were blown about by the wind, creating evil, chaos and havoc in the eyes and hearts of the unsuspecting townsfolk.

The Snow Queen, creator of winter wind and snow, was also greatly affected by this tragedy as tiny slivers of mirror lodged into her very soul. Dark times followed.

Many years later...  A wintery day in the town square finds people in the holiday spirit but as the spell has endured through the years, something is amiss.

Somehow, the spell has eluded Kai and Gerda who are very dear friends. Kai, one of the boys in town, gives his best friend Gerda, a rose.

The Snow Queen appears stirring up snow and wind, and a sliver of mirror gets lodged into Kai's heart. Kai drives Gerda away in tears and the Snow Queen takes Kai away to her realm.

When spring arrives, Gerda goes searching for Kai. On her journey, she gets swept up by a raging river.

Gerda meets an enchantress who casts a spell on her—when the enchantress combs Gerda's hair, her memory of Kai fades away.

Summer passes in the enchantress' flower garden but Gerda's memory of Kai returns when she meets the rose.

She leaves the garden and comes upon a crow and his girlfriend who fly her to the castle of the prince and princess.

At the castle, the prince and princess perform a royal dance.

Gerda asks the prince and princess if they've seen Kai. To her dismay, they have not seen him but they shower her with gifts...

... a golden carriage, two horses and a coachman to help her on her search.

Gerda's journey takes her into an enchanted forest where the trees take on a life of their own.

Mysteriously, Gypsies appear from behind the trees and ambush Gerda, stealing all of her gifts.

A little Gypsy girl and Gypsy boy fight over who gets to keep Gerda. After telling the Gypsy girl of her search for Kai, the Gypsy girl tells Gerda of the struggles of her own life.

Feeling sorry for Gerda, the Gypsy girl gives Gerda a reindeer to help guide her on her journey.

The reindeer guides Gerda to the edge of the Snow Queen's realm. It gets very cold and Gerda and the reindeer almost freeze to death.

A guardian angel and her company of angels come to Gerda's aid. The guardian angel says that all Gerda needs to fulfill her journey lies within herself. She points the way to the Snow Queen's castle where Gerda finds Kai trying to solve the mystery of the broken ice puzzle—the mirror of reason. The Snow Queen promised Kai his freedom if he ever solved the puzzle. Gerda runs to Kai and embraces him but he is nearly frozen. Tears run down Gerda's face and onto Kai's chest, melting the lump of ice in his heart. Kai's own tears wash away the mirror fragment from his eye and he rejoices to see Gerda.

The Snow Queen enters and tries to regain her hold on Kai but Kai, seeing clearly now, solves the ice puzzle. The Snow Queen realizing that the puzzle is solved, casts out the minons of evil, chaos and havoc, and, in keeping her promise, sets Kai free.

Kai and Gerda arrive at the palace and retell the story of their adventures to the prince and princess. The story of the Snow Queen is so touching that the townsfolk begin to cry, their tears washing the mirror fragments from their eyes, and so freeing them of the long-standing spell.

The prince and princess rejoice with a grand dance, followed by the palace acrobats.

Kai and Gerda join the townsfolk in the festivities as everybody celebrates the return of the wonder and joy of the winter season!
